Random Acts of Kindness Day: Small Gestures, Big Impact

Random Acts of Kindness Day

Random Acts of Kindness Day is a simple but powerful reminder: the smallest gestures can have the biggest impact. Whether it’s holding a door, buying someone a coffee, or offering a kind word, these moments help build stronger, more caring communities.

At Higgins Insurance, kindness is something our team believes in every day — not just today. This year, our staff shared meaningful quotes and personal reflections on what kindness means to them.

Words of Kindness from Our Team

Jacqueline Henneberry shared:

“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”
~ Princess Dianne

Tammy Warfield reminds us:

“No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.”
— Aesop

Trina Eves shared this timeless thought from Princess Diana:

“Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you.”

Sorcha Dooley added:

“I must pay for the coffee of the person behind me in the drivethru on Tuesday. I always loved the simple quote “In a world where you can be anything, be kind”

Michelle Bird reflected on a moment that stuck with her:

“I remember a few years ago in Ontario it snowed at night. I came out early in the morning to get all the snow and ice off my car and someone already did it for me. I never found out who but it was the best thing ever.”

Cheryl Reid-Calvin shared:

“In a world where you can be anything, be kind.” — Unknown

Bob Keays offered an important reminder:

Being kind to yourself and taking care of yourself isn’t being selfish — it sets you up to be the best version of yourself so you can be the best version for others.

From our Higgins Insurance Friend, Angela Davis:

There is no higher power than helping other people. I’m not religious, but I believe that charity doesn’t brag — true generosity is humble, sincere, and not intended for personal validation or public praise. Like Mr. Rogers says: look for the helpers — we should be the helpers wherever we can.

Ryan Peterson shared a true Maritimes moment:

“I held a door for the delivery guy at Olsen’s and he said, ‘Thanks, you can sure tell who’s a true Maritimer.’”

Laura Mazerolle reminds us:

Share and give without thought or eyes watching you do it.

Donna Glenen-Cruickshank reminds us:

When someone does a small act of kindness for me, it can really affect how I feel. As a school worker I love seeing children learn about caring for their friends, teachers, the custodian, and other staff. I see how good the children feel when they are thanked for a “small” kindness. Small acts of kindness are a give-give perfect way to be a loving human. One small act of kindness each day by each person is a whole lot of love for the planet!!

Our Challenge to You

Today — and every day — look for small ways to make someone’s day better.

  • Buy the coffee for the person behind you
  • Hold the door
  • Send a quick thank-you message
  • Check in on a friend
  • Be kind to yourself

Kindness spreads quickly. One small act can start a ripple effect you may never see — but it matters.

From all of us at Higgins Insurance, thank you for helping make our community stronger, warmer, and kinder.
