“BEFORE YOU GO TO THE SERVICE NEW BRUNSWICK LOCATION, BE SURE TO SPEAK WITH YOUR BROKER TO ENSURE THAT YOU WILL HAVE AUTO INSURANCE COVERAGE”
We have prepared this post to provide you with the necessary steps in obtaining these important documents, while ensuring that you do not spend more time than is required at the local DMV.
What should you bring? In speaking with one of the staff of the Service New Brunswick Team they advised that you should have the following information with you:
- Driver’s License from the province that you are leaving.
- Current Motor Vehicle registration form, for the vehicle you will be driving in New Brusnwick
- Proof of Residence in New Brunswick:
- Purchase agreement for new home
- Rental agreement
- Power, Cell phone or Cable Bill
- KEY THING; is that the document must have your NEW address on it. A list of acceptable forms is provided at link provided under Resources.
Before you go to the Service New Brunswick location, be sure to speak with your broker to ensure that you will have Auto Insurance Coverage the day you plan on changing the registration of the vehicle. At Higgins Insurance we can take care of this for you by getting your policy prepared in advance of your arrival to New Brunswick. Then, it is as simple as letting us know what day you will be going to the DMV, and confirming that you have a copy of your “Pink Card”.
The challenges people and families face when they move to a new province can be overwhelming. This white paper was written to help you navigate the governmental processes, and hopefully provide you some peace of mind. We would encourage you to call your local Service New Brunswick office prior to going to the office should you have any further questions. They can be reached at 1-888-762-8600.
Once you are at the Service New Brunswick Office you will need to:
Complete the application for your New Brunswick Driver’s license. This must be done in person at the local Service New Brunswick Office. Upon completion of the application you will need to surrender your old driver’s license to SNB.
Change the registration of the vehicle(s) to the province of New Brunswick. The application can be completed prior to your arrival, and a link is below for your convenience.
As mentioned earlier, you MUST display proof of insurance for your vehicle in New Brunswick. A fax copy, digital copy or hard copy will satisfy the Agent at Service New Brunswick.
For Payment – Visa, Master Card, Debit or Cash are all accepted.
