Today we are delighted to share an interview with Carrie Greene from Carrie Greene Design. At Carrie Greene Design, they are passionate about creating meaningful spaces for their clients.
What services do you offer?
We offer a full range of design services from a simple colour consultation to creating conceptual designs and specifying finishes for renovations and new builds. What is your favorite design style?
I don’t subscribe to any one particular style in my work. As a designer, it is important that I am able to work with whichever style suits my client’s taste. Often people will watch shows on HGTV and assume I’m going to impose my taste on them. They have to live in the home not me, so it has to work for them. A good designer always designs for the client.
What is your favorite room to work on?
My favourite room to work on is the kitchen. It is the hub of everyone’s home and you spend a lot of your time there. Kitchens are no longer hidden away, they are out in the open and are a place to be shared with everyone. They need to be very functional for the client but can still be full of style.
What do you love most about your job?
I love helping people fall in love with their spaces. When they walk in after the project is done with smiles, and sometimes tears they’re so happy with the end result, I know I’ve hit the mark. Our surroundings have such an impact on our everyday lives and how we feel. Whether it is a simple refresh or a complete overhaul, helping someone create a space they truly enjoy is very rewarding.
I see you are a proud supporter of Make-A-Wish in the Atlantic Provinces why did you want to get involved with this?
I have always wanted my work to have meaning. When I was approached by Make-A-Wish to design a space for a child recovering from cancer I thought, “This is it! This is how I use my design skills in a really meaningful way.” I know from members of my extended family how much it means to have these wishes granted. I have been so honoured to have helped some families make their children’s wishes for a one-of-a-kind bedroom come true.
